Under the inspiring initiative of the Higher Education Department, Government of J&K, a Mega Plantation Drive was organized on April 06, 2026, in collaboration with all degree colleges across the Union Territory. The drive was held under the esteemed guidance of Hon’ble Higher Education Minister Ms. Sakeena Itoo and the patronage of Shri. Ram Niwas Sharma, Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education. In this connection, NCC Senior Wing, NSS, Department of Environmental Science and Eco Club of Srinagar Women's College Batpora Zakura actively participated in the drive with great enthusiasm and environmental commitment. The plantation drive in the college was formally started by the Principal, Prof. Syed Ifat Ara, who encouraged students and staff to contribute towards a greener and healthier environment while being connected to Director Colleges in virtual mode as well. A total of 300 saplings were planted within the college premises by students, faculty, and staff members. The activity reflected the collective spirit of environmental responsibility and sustainability among the participants. The program aimed to contribute towards the larger goal of planting 10,000 saplings across degree colleges and GCETs in Jammu & Kashmir.
